DefenceSynergia Commentary – United Kingdom Strategy Post Brexit

DefenceSynergia (DS) has consistently argued that the United Kingdom (UK) requires an articulated Strategic Narrative; a written National Grand Strategy that provides all Secretaries of State with higher level policy direction.

Following the recent UK referendum vote in favour of leaving the European Union (EU), DS argues that this has created a paradigm shift in UK Foreign and Security Policy, so now is absolutely the right time for the Prime Minister (PM) and her revamped Cabinet to revisit UK Grand Strategy in a post-BREXIT world; to articulate and publish it.
In so doing the PM will be acting in national and international best interests by providing clarity of purpose and offering positive ambition to instil certainty and optimism for the long term, rather than, as now, perpetuating chaotic short term speculation as to UK aims and intent.
The British public, the international community and the commercial markets require direction; the PM has opportunity to offer it. This short DS Commentary is written to open that debate.
